Its name is inspired by the Carthusian monks who, between 1598 and 2019, practiced a solitary life of prayer at the Cartuxa Monastery, in Évora, owned by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. As a way of reviving one of the traditional ways of producing wines at Adega Cartuxa, where quality wines have been produced for more than two centuries, the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation presents this red wine made in old clay pots, from the Alicante Bouschet variety. It reveals an exuberant aroma of raspberry and blackberry compote, pine needles and dried herbs. In the mouth it presents a very interesting contrast, being more austere and rustic, without losing elegance and a certain delicacy. Ripe and well present tannins, acidity underlining the juicy texture of the wine.
