Fonseca Tawny Port

Fonseca Tawny ages for three years in small wooden casks of approximately 630 liters. As the Tawny Port ages in the cask, it gradually loses the deep “ruby” red color of its youth and begins to acquire the charming amber hue, known in English as “tawny”. At the same time, the wine becomes progressively smoother and more velvety, and its aromas acquire richness and complexity. After three years of aging and a short time before bottling, the wines are blended to achieve the best balance and harmony. Fonseca tawnies are bottled for immediate consumption. It is auburn-red in color, fading to a brick color at the rim. The seductive nose displays aromas of apricot and plum, with sweet touches of butterscotch and spice.
