Taylor’s Tawny 40 Years Old is an exceptionally rare and vintage blend of wines produced in limited quantities. Selected red Ports, produced in the eastern parts of the Douro Valley, including Taylor’s own estates, are aged in oak casks in Taylor’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. There, the cool and humid climate allows for a gentle aging process, producing aromas of great complexity and delicacy. Aging in wood for 40 years has concentrated this wine until it becomes almost an essence, developing intense and complex spicy and nutty aromas, in addition to a dense and concentrated palate, full of rich and velvety flavors. A sublime Port wine of great age, which shows nuances of golden and olive green color, a product of the many years it has spent in the cask. Decades of evaporation have concentrated this extraordinary wine, giving it exceptional density and a powerful nose of dried fruit, honey and a hint of spice. Signs of nutmeg, roasted coffee and an intense sensation of dried fruits converge, both in the bouquet and on the palate. The wine’s rich, intense, voluptuous and almost viscous texture culminates in an incredible persistence finish. Ready to be consumed. It does not need to be decanted.
