In Pico, vines have been planted for over 500 years in the cracks of volcanic rock, just a few meters from the sea. But it is even earlier, in 1465, the arrival of the Utras, misrepresentation of the name of Joss Hurtere, a Flemish who was Donatory Captain of Pico and Fayal, decisive for the development of wine and vines on these islands. One of these vineyards, a small plot in Criação Velha that leans against the sea, in “1os Jeirões”, in a place where you get the greatest sun exposure and concentration. It has a citrus-straw yellow color, aroma of iodine, salt, lime. In the mouth, a dense concentrated attack, acidity cuts in the middle and remains until the end of the tasting, salt, salt, salt and iodine, it is a “slap” of sea.
